I am Mark Parker, president and founder of Vent Vac. I started Vent Vac in 1991 after 16 years as a pilot for the U. S. Army and the U.S. Customs Service. You're probably wondering what's the connection with flying and the quality of the air we breathe. I noticed that while out of town flying, my symptoms would leave, and upon arriving home the symptoms would return. I felt tired, my eyes were itchy and burning, and I suffered from upper respiratory infections.

One day I was trying to clean the build-up of mold growing on the outside of our air vents (registers). I noticed that the mold was also on the inside of the register boxes but I had no way of getting to it. We called an air duct cleaning company to clean our air system and they found 2 inches of mold in our vents. I became so fascinated with indoor air quality that I started referring customers to the company. Eventually I started working part time in sales and later as a technician. After a few years the owner retired and I bought his equipment and started my own company, Vent Vac Systems, LLC.

I am asthmatic, so I know the effects that can be caused by the condition of indoor air quality. The vision I had a few years back was now in front of me, the technology was constantly improving and I had the opportunity to make a difference in people's lives. The rest is history.

Even if the ducts are cleaned out, the original source of contamination still exists in the coils, plenum and drip pans. This will start spreading again immediately. You can't do part of the job.
